DC Premier 17u & 16u Finish AAU Season Nationally Ranked

The 17u and 16u teams from DC Premier both had strong showings during the July live period and finished the AAU season ranked nationally in the top 15 for their age groups.  

17u - ranked #14

16u - ranked #4

DC Premier 16u & 17u Co-Champions at Big Shots DC Duel

With DC Premier having their 16u team playing up in the 17u division, the team proved they were up to the task.

 

Both the 16u & 17u teams from DC Premier made it to the championship game of the 17u Gold Division and were awarded as Co-Champions of the 2016 Big Shots DC Duel event.

The moment O’Connell’s season ended last winter with a win in the consolation game of the Alhambra Catholic Invitational, Jamaal King knew his time had come.

 

All-Met Player of the Year Melo Trimble was headed to play at Maryland, leaving a void of talented leadership for the Knights that King, the team’s second-leading scorer, would now be expected to carry. But with King’s slight, 5-foot-9 stature and the elite skills that Trimble displayed in his four years at O’Connell, the opinion among some was that those shoes were too large for King to fill.

Reserve guard Jamaal King had a team-high nine points, and DC Premier held on to beat Louisiana Dynasty 50-46 on Sunday in the championship bracket final of the Las Vegas Fab 48 invitational division at Bishop Gorman.

It is the second straight year a team from Washington D.C. won the top bracket in the tournament’s 17-and-under division. DC Assault took last year’s title and was rebranded DC Premier AAU after Curtis Malone, the program’s co-founder, pled guilty in March to federal drug trafficking charges.

It’s not long after he is on the court that you spot 6’8″ 2015 Develle Phillips on the basketball court. The rising senior at Clinton Christian, in Marlboro, Maryland, is long and explosively athletic. While he has a quiet, matter of fact demeanor, his game is very loud.

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Jared Bynum, 15, graduates at the top of his class from theWashington Jesuit Academy, a private school for under-privileged boys.

"I'm going to miss them a lot. 'Cause I spend a lot of time with them. And even though we went through some good times, and some bad times, I'm never going to forget them."

The 8th grader is one of 23 male students who have successfully completed the Academy's program: 12-hour school days for 11 months each year. The school day involves both class and sports. Bynum played baseball, basketball and soccer.

Recap: BIG SHOTS DC with DC Premier

DC Premier accomplished the sweep in the BIG SHOTS DC event winning Gold titles in the 17U (17U-16U Co-Champs), 15U and 14U divisions. DC Blue Devils is back in full force taking home the 16U Gold title. #BIGSHOTSTop40 DMV prospects Alani Moore and Marquez Letcher were MVP’s in the 17U division. But the talk of the tournament were the 2019 6’8 Mitchell twins (Mahki and Mahkel) of DC Premier 13U and River City Reign (VA) 2016 PG Maliek White scoring 27 ppg.
